Year In Review: 2023
I thought I'd just do a yearly round up just to give shout outs to some of my favorites. I hope everyone had a wonderful year, and I hope 2024 will be even better for you!
1. Carly Rae Jepsen - "Psychedelic Switch"
You can't deny that this song is a delightful taste sensation. Just like a bonbon.
2. Dua Lipa - "Houdini"
Dua doesn't disappoint.
3. Tyla - "Water"
This one surprised me, but it's so fun! And so pretty!
4. Sakurazaka46 - "Sakurazuki"
I love Sakurazaka46! I thought this was a nice song for spring!
5. Kenshi Yonezu - "KICK BACK"
Kickass, actually.
6. Official HIGE DANdism - "Subtitle"
HIGE never misses.
7. YOASOBI - "IDOL"
YOASOBI continues to be high quality.
8. Zach Bryan - "Something In The Orange"
A friend recommended this song to me. The way he sings is so manly with manly emotions. It's beautiful.
9. Taylor Swift - "I Can See You"
Bopped to it all summer long.
10. SZA - "Snooze"
SZA makes anything sexy, and this sleek number is AMAZING.
Albums:
1. SZA - SOS
SZA is just perfection. Her singing is so gorgeous. I wish I could sing like that!
2. Sexy Zone - Chapter II
-city pop perfection, guys. Jam after jam.
3. Florence + the Machine - Dance Fever
Just as beautiful as the album cover.
4. Doja Cat - Scarlet
Doja Cat continues to be super fun!
5. Taylor Swift - Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
Y'all know I'm crazy about the 2010 version, so I felt hyped for this one too.
6. Hey! Say! JUMP - PULL UP!
Hey! Say! JUMP really makes great singles and albums!
7. Lana Del Rey - Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd
Did you know that this is a perfect album?
8. Victoria Monét - Jaguar II
I just began listening to Monét this year, and I am kicking myself for not listening to her before this. Seriously, go listen to this. I hope the Grammys gives this album a lot of love.
9. Morgan Wallen - One Thing at a Time
Wallen did a clean sweep of the whole year. For real.
10. King & Prince - Mr. 5
I'm going to miss them as a 5 piece, but they at least gave us the decency of one last album showcasing all of their great songs.
Artists:
1. Taylor Swift
She needs no explanation. Her reputation talks plenty for how 2023 was Swift's world. On that note, looking forward to reputation (Taylor's Version) next year!
2. SZA
She dominated! And I'm so glad that she did.
3. Drake
Also dominates as usual. I enjoyed a lot of For All The Dogs.
4. King & Prince
Did I mention I'm going to miss them as a 5 piece?
5. Doja Cat
I grew to love her so much this year. I can't wait to see where Doja will go next!
6. Nogizaka46
The sales.
7. Morgan Wallen
Also the sales.
8. YOASOBI
I didn't expect "IDOL" to be so big, but it's well-deserved. YOASOBI seems to work really hard.
9. Zach Bryan
I'm so glad my friend at work recommended him to me.
10. Mitski
I stumbled upon Mitski this year and was like "OMG. Where has she been?" Perfection.
Let's listen to A LOT of great music in 2024, guys. And of course talk about it! Happy New Year!
